Apostle Grace Lubega
Matthew 16:15–17 (KJV): “He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”

When Jesus asked, “Who do you say I am?”, He was drawing a clear line between how the world sees Him and how His followers are meant to see Him. He was not looking for a borrowed opinion or a secondhand answer.
The crowds had their guesses. Some said Jesus was a prophet, others said He was Jeremiah, and some thought He was Elijah. But Jesus wanted something deeper from His disciples. He wanted to know, “Do you really know who I am, or are you just repeating what everyone else says?”
Peter gave the right answer, but even more important than his words was the source of that answer. He did not conclude that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God, through logic, assumption, or hearsay. It was revealed to him by the Father.
It is easy to assume we know Jesus because we attend church, listen to great sermons, or memorize Scripture. These things are sometimes not enough. Even the disciples who walked with Him, saw His miracles, and heard His teachings sometimes misunderstood who He truly was.
Jesus is still asking the same question today: “But who do you say that I am?”
That question is deeply personal. No one can answer it for you — not your pastor, not your parents, not your friends. The answer must come through revelation, from a heart where the Father Himself unveils the true identity of Christ.

GOLDEN NUGGET: Jesus is still asking the same question today: “But who do you say that I am?” That question is deeply personal. PRAYER: Father in heaven, I come to You with an open heart. I do not want to live with secondhand knowledge of Jesus. I refuse to repeat what others have said or follow a version of Christ shaped by the world. I want to know Him deeply, personally, and truly. Take away every false image, every shallow understanding, and every borrowed idea, and reveal to me the real Christ. I choose to walk with Him, trust Him, and build my life on the truth of who He is. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
