2 Kings 13:20-21 (KJV): “And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year. And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.”

Elisha was a greatly anointed prophet in Israel. Scripture calls him “the chariot of Israel and the horsemen thereof.” His life was marked by astounding miracles. The anointing on him was so potent that even after his death, his bones carried life. A dead man was thrown into his tomb, touched his bones and revived instantly.
As glorious as this story is, it also carries a sobering truth. Here is a man who came into contact with a profound anointing, yet all he received from it was life in his physical body.
Why is this significant? Scripture records Elijah passing his mantle to Elisha. But when we study the life of Elisha, we find no record of him passing his mantle to anyone else. It went with him to the grave. Yet God created a divine, supernatural opportunity, beyond the grave, for this mantle to be transferred. A dead man fell on bones still saturated with power. But this moment was met by a man with no discernment. He received the miracle of resurrection, rose but left the mantle behind.
And this still happens today. People come into contact with the spiritual legacies of great men and women of God through their books, teachings, sermons, or testimonies and all they receive are surface benefits. They experience healing, encouragement, or temporary breakthroughs, yet miss the deeper inheritance of wisdom and grace that formed the essence of those men’s ministries.
God still makes His graces available, even through the lives and legacies of those who have passed on. But only hearts that discern and hunger for more than miracles can inherit such graces.

GOLDEN NUGGET: God still makes His graces available, even through the lives and legacies of those who have passed on. But only hearts that discern and hunger for more than miracles can inherit such graces.
PRAYER: Father, I thank You for this word. I have discernment to recognize the graces and mantles You have made available to my generation. I refuse to settle for surface experiences. My heart is sensitive, my spirit teachable and my life aligned to receive all that You desire to impart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
