Apostle Grace Lubega
Proverbs 1:32 (ASV): “For the backsliding of the simple will kill them, and the careless ease of fools will destroy them.”

God has called us to a life of depth in Him and in His truth. We must be the kind of people who are deeply grounded and firmly rooted, because this depth determines how steady we remain in God when our deepest convictions are tested.
You may have heard of someone who has known God for years, served in church, prayed, and even taught others, yet suddenly gave up on their faith. The reasons often range from being hurt by a fellow believer to feeling disappointed when God did not answer a prayer as they expected.
When you examine such lives closely, you will often discover that the real issue lies in a lack of depth. A part of them was not deeply rooted in God. The Bible refers to this as the backsliding of the simple.
Understand that when you reach a certain level of depth in your relationship with God, nothing can uproot you from His presence. Depth in God empowers you to serve Him even in the hardest times, when much of the world may stand against you.
There is a place in God where your faith becomes unshakable. Those who have not reached this place often find it easy to turn back to the world, to take their hands off the plough, and to abandon the gospel. In that deeper place, you no longer depend on feelings, popularity, or people’s opinions. You do not need applause to keep going. You pray when you feel like it and when you do not. You serve when it is comfortable and when it is not. You love God too much to ever walk away.
Do not be simple. Go deeper. Build a relationship with God that no storm, disappointment, or offense can destroy.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for Your Word. You grow me in faith and launch me so deep in You that no pain, no person and no pressure can pull me away. Each day, I learn to truly fear You and to walk with You in every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
