Apostle Grace Lubega
Jeremiah 17:5-7(KJV); Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
When we speak of trusting in the arm of flesh, some people assume that it is only trusting in other men and depending on them for survival. This is not the only angle, child of God. Trusting in the arm of flesh also involves trusting in your own self and your own ability.
When we look to what we can do and what we can achieve by virtue of our status in society, our physical appearance, our academic qualifications or our bank account balances, that too is trusting in the arm of flesh.
When we think that success is achievable by our rigid self-discipline, our enduring charisma and charm, our smooth accents and hard work, that too is to put trust in the arm of flesh.
God does not expect you to put your trust in any man, beginning with yourself. In the same way that men can fail you, you too can fail yourself.
In your own power, you are capable of great self-disappointment. It doesn’t matter how lofty your view of your self is, life has proved over and over again how the mighty do fall.
This does not mean that we should discredit any form of self-belief and hang ourselves on the trees of self-doubt by the noose of insecurity. Rather, it means that any form of trust in self must start with trust in God. It is what He has done in us that we lean on as a guarantee for success. It is His power in us that we rely on for achievement.

GOLDEN NUGGET: Any form of trust in self must start with trust in God. It is what He has done in us that we lean on as a guarantee for success. It is His power in us that we rely on for achievement.
PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this Word. You are the beginning, the middle and the end of my life. You are at the centre of my existence and my trust is fully in You. In whatsoever I do, I choose to look to You, the unshakeable, unchangeable and unbreakable God. In Jesus’ name, Amen
