1 Timothy 3:10 (KJV): “And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.”

It is a sad reality that in the Church today, there are ministers who were appointed to positions that were either never meant for them or for which they were not yet ready.
The reasons for this may vary. For some, appointment was a way to keep them active members of the church, and so they were given positions of leadership. For others, the gift operating in their lives may have led their leaders to assume that they were qualified for higher levels of ministry.
As a result, there are men and women carrying the burdens of ministries they had not been prepared to carry. Some were entrusted with branches of entire churches or roles that have now become a very heavy cross.
Our theme scripture gives us one of the primary criteria for appointing ministers: they must first be proved.
We must ask the necessary questions: Has the person you are appointing been tested? What is their faithfulness like? What is their prayer life like? Have they been consecrated by God?
Appointments into places of spiritual leadership are too sensitive to be left to chance or guesswork. They must be based on the leading of the Spirit and not provoked by a minister’s assumptions. This is because such appointments do not only affect the person chosen, but also the many who will come under that person’s leadership. Hallelujah!

GOLDEN NUGGET: Appointments into places of spiritual leadership are too sensitive to be left to chance or guesswork. They must be based on the leading of the Spirit and not provoked by a minister’s assumptions. This is because such appointments do not only affect the person chosen, but also the many who will come under that person’s leadership.
PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this word. I understand that spiritual leadership is not born of assumption, ambition, or mere gifting, but by Your preparation, proving, and consecration. You teach me to honour the process by which ministers are made. May I never run where You have not sent me, and may I never appoint where You have not led. I yield to the wisdom of Your Spirit in all matters of ministry and leadership. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
