Apostle Grace Lubega
2 Corinthians 9:15 (KJV); Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
In these days, we are seeing an increasing drift away from the true meaning of Christmas. Much is lost in the celebration of the holidays.
Various traditions have come into play that water down what the birth of Jesus Christ truly meant to the world. Now, our children are being indoctrinated with tales of Santa Claus that their fascination is with this personality and not the person of Christ.
This message is not meant to disqualify Santa Claus. We may enjoy all these traditions, but do we really know who Jesus is? Are we investing time in revealing Him? Jesus Christ is the unspeakable and indescribable gift of God. When God searched eternity for what man truly needed, Jesus was the answer.
He is at the centre of our celebrations because His birth represents the best that heaven had to offer.
In Matthew 1:23, the Bible says, “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
We must not get lost in traditions and lose the reason for the season. The birth of Jesus Christ is the reminder that God is with us and for us. When we celebrate Christmas, we celebrate the greatest expression of God’s love.
