2 Peter 3:16 (KJV); As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

If you study the context of our theme scripture, you will realise that Peter was making reference to the teachings of Paul and his message of the grace of God. He makes it clear that some of these teachings were hard to understand and as such, unlearned and unstable men applied them to their own destruction.

This teaches us that it is important to understand Paul’s message if you are to rightfully apply the scriptures.

If you apply them the wrong way, you destroy not just yourself but those around you.

What then is the rightful application of the scriptures?

You can only apply the Word the right way when you study it with the consciousness that you are a new creature in Christ. The understanding of present truth is the starting point of the rightful application of the scriptures.

The people in our theme scripture destroyed themselves because they did not understand the message of God’s grace.

Present truth will teach you to rightfully apply the scriptures on healing, to understand that divine health is your portion because you were already healed (1 Peter 2:24). Present truth will teach you to rightfully apply the scriptures on righteousness because you will understand that your sins were forgiven and righteousness is a gift (Romans 4:5). Present truth will teach you to apply the right scriptures on deliverance because you will understand that you have been translated from the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of God’s Son (Colossians 1:13).

MATUMIZI SAHIHI YA MAANDIKO

2 Petro 3:16 (KJV); vile vile kama katika nyaraka zake zote pia, akitoa humo habari za mambo hayo; katika nyaraka hizo yamo mambo ambayo ni vigumu kuelewa nayo; na mambo hayo watu wasio na elimu, wasio imara, huyapotoa, kama vile wayapotoavyo na maandiko mengine, kwa uvunjifu wao wenyewe.

Ukiangazia muktadha wa andiko letu kuu, utagundua kwamba Petro alikuwa akirejelea mafundisho ya Paulo na ujumbe wake wa neema ya Mungu. Anadhihirisha kwamba baadhi ya mafundisho haya yalikuwa magumu kueleweka na kwa hivyo, watu wasio na elimu na wasio na msimamo waliyatumia kwa uharibifu wao wenyewe.

Hii inatufundisha kwamba ni muhimu kuelewa ujumbe wa Paulo ikiwa utatumia maandiko inavyofaa.

Ukiyatumia kwa njia isiyofaa, unaharibu si wewe tu, bali pia wale walio karibu nawe.

Ni nini basi matumizi sahihi ya maandiko?

Unaweza tu kutumia Neno kwa njia sahihi unapojifunza kwa ufahamu kwamba wewe ni kiumbe kipya katika Kristo. Uelewa wa ukweli wa sasa ndio sehemu ya kuanzia ya matumizi sahihi ya maandiko.

Watu katika maandiko yetu ya mada hujiangamiza kwa sababu hawaelewi ujumbe wa neema ya Mungu.

Ukweli wa sasa utakufundisha kutumia kwa usahihi maandiko juu ya uponyaji, kuelewa kwamba afya ya kimungu ni sehemu yako kwa sababu ulikuwa umeponywa (1 Petro 2:24). Ukweli wa sasa utakufundisha kutumia kwa usahihi maandiko juu ya haki, kwa sababu utaelewa kwamba dhambi zako zilisamehewa na haki ni zawadi (Warumi 4:5). Ukweli wa sasa utakufundisha kutumia maandiko sahihi juu ya ukombozi kwa sababu utaelewa kwamba umehamishwa kutoka kwa ufalme wa giza na kuingia katika ufalme wa mwana wa Mungu (Wakolosai 1:13).
