Apostle Grace Lubega
Genesis 13:8-9,11 (KJV): “And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren. Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left…Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.”

Your submission to spiritual authority will always be tested. These tests come in many forms, yet some believers fail to recognize them and end up making decisions that misalign them from their God-ordained paths.
One major test of submission is how a submitted person responds to growth and increase in their lives. Does growth automatically mean that you have outgrown your spiritual cover and should separate from them?
This was the test Lot faced and failed.
Genesis 13:5–6 tells us: “And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.”
When Abraham suggested separation, it was God testing Lot’s heart. Lot should have discerned that although his possessions had increased, he still needed Abraham’s covering. Separation was not the answer.
We know this to be true because when Lot was taken captive, it was Abraham who rescued him (Genesis 14:14). Later, when God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, Scripture records that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow…” (Genesis 19:29). Lot was preserved not because of his own standing, but because of Abraham.
Increase and multiplication in your life should never be interpreted as a signal to abandon your spiritual covering. Very often, increase itself is a test of your submission.

GOLDEN NUGGET: Increase and multiplication in your life should never be interpreted as a signal to abandon your spiritual covering. Very often, increase itself is a test of your submission.
PRAYER: Loving Father, thank You for the gift of spiritual authority and godly covering in my life. By this word, I receive discernment to recognize the tests that come with growth and increase. You deal with any pride in my spirit and keep me aligned with Your order and Your purposes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
