Deuteronomy 21:15-17 (KJV); If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated: Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn: But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.
In Jewish culture, as indicated by our theme scripture, the firstborn son was entitled to a double portion of the inheritance. This right is the basis of the double blessing.
However, I have heard some people claim the double blessing from the story of Job. They quote Job 42:10 which says, “And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job TWICE as much as he had before.” As such, they erroneously teach that a double blessing is always preceded by pain and suffering.
Job’s story is not the doctrinal basis of the double blessing. God does not expect us to view inheritance through these lenses. As a New Testament believer, the eyes through which you see inheritance are different.
Instead, God expects us to look to Christ. In Colossians 1:15, the Bible says He is “the image of the invisible God, the FIRSTBORN of every creature.”
When Jesus Christ came to the earth, He came in the anointing of the firstborn. In Romans 8:17, the Bible calls us joint-heirs with Him. It is through Him that we claim the right of the firstborn, which is the double blessing.
This double blessing is what makes a Born Again believer better than any man who is outside a covenant relationship with God. You are more advantaged, more favoured and more esteemed. You have so much more than what the men of this world have because the double portion is your right.

N’olwekyo, basobya mu kusomesa nti omukisa ogw’emirundi ebiri gujja oluvannyuma lw’obulumi era n’okubonaabona.
Olugero lwa Yobu ssi musingi gwa kuyigiririzaako omukisa ogw’emirundi ebiri. Katonda tatusuubira kulabira busika mu ndaba eno. Ng’omukkiriza ow’endagaano Empya, endaba gy’olabamu obusika ya njawulo.
Mu ngeri endala, Katonda atusuubira okutunula eri Kristo. Mu Abakkolosaayi 1:15, Baibuli egamba Ye “oyo kye kifaananyi kya Katonda atalabika, OMUBERYEBERYE ow’ebitonde byonna.”

Yesu Kristo kuyaizire omunsi, akaija omu majuta g’omujugaijo. Omu Abarooma 8:17, Baiburi netweeta abahunguzi hamwe nawe. Twiine obugabe bw’omujugaijo ahabwe, nigwo mugisha gw’emiringo ebiri.
Omugisha gw’emiringo ebiri nigwo gurikuretera omwikiriza ozairwe obwakabiri yakira ondiijo muntu ori aheeru y’endagaano y’omukago na Ruhanga. Kumbukumbu la Torati 21:15-17 (KJV); Akiwa mtu yuna wake wawili, mmoja ampenda, mmoja hampendi, nao wamemzalia watoto, ampendaye na asiyempenda wote wawili; na yule mzaliwa wa kwanza akiwa ni wa mke asiyependwa; ndipo itakapokuwa ya kwamba siku atakayowarithisha wanawe alivyo navyo, asimweke mwana wa ampendaye kuwa mzaliwa wa kwanza mbele ya mwana wa asiyempenda, naye ndiye mzaliwa wa kwanza huyu; lakini amkubali mzaliwa wa kwanza mwana wa yule asiyempenda, kwa kumpa mafungu mawili katika vyote alivyo navyo; kwa maana ndiye mwanzo wa nguvu zake; haki ya mzaliwa wa kwanza ni yake yeye.
Katika utamaduni wa Kiyahudi, kama inavyoonyeshwa katika andiko letu kuu, mtoto wa kwanza alikuwa na haki ya kupata sehemu mbili za urithi. Haki hii ndiyo msingi wa baraka maradufu.
Walakini, nimesikia watu wengine wakidai baraka maradufu kutoka kwa hadithi ya Ayubu. Wao hunukuu Ayubu 42:10 ambayo inasema, “Kisha BWANA akaugeuza uteka wa Ayubu, hapo alipowaombea rafiki zake; BWANA naye akampa Ayubu mara mbili kuliko hayo aliyokuwa nayo kwanza.”
Hadithi ya Ayubu sio msingi wa mafundisho ya baraka maradufu. Mungu hatutarajii tuone urithi kupitia lensi hizi. Kama muumini wa Agano Jipya, macho ambayo unaonea urithi ni tofauti.
Badala yake, Mungu anatutarajia tumtazame Kristo. Katika Wakolosai 1:15, Biblia inasema Yeye ni “mfano wa Mungu asiyeonekana, mzaliwa wa kwanza wa viumbe vyote.”
Yesu Kristo alipokuja duniani, alikuja katika upako wa mzaliwa wa kwanza. Katika Warumi 8:17, Biblia inatuita warithi pamoja naye. Ni kupitia kwake ndio tunadai haki ya mzaliwa wa kwanza, ambayo ni baraka maradufu.
Baraka hii maradufu ndiyo inayomfanya muumini aliyezaliwa upya kuwa bora kuliko mtu yeyote aliye nje ya uhusiano wa agano na Mungu. Unafaidika zaidi, unapendelewa zaidi na kuheshimiwa zaidi. Una mengi zaidi kuliko yale ambayo watu wa ulimwengu huu wanayo kwa sababu sehemu maradufu ni haki yako.
