Apostle Grace Lubega
1 Corinthians 14:4 (KJV); He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
He who speaks in tongues edifies himself. He does not edify his neighbour, brother or prayer partner.
Speaking in tongues is for your benefit.
What then is in this edification? Among other things, edification is in wisdom, piety and in virtue.
When you speak in tongues, you flow in the wisdom of God. If you find yourself stranded over a matter, speak in tongues. When you do, you will receive divine guidance and direction in what to do. That is the power of speaking in tongues.
By speaking in tongues, you are also edified in piety, that is, the fear of the Lord. This causes a man to regard God’s ways, patterns and principles with a deep sense of reverence. It is why he will desist from ungodly actions.
Edification is also in virtue. God causes goodness to flow out of you. Kindness, and integrity become second nature to you.
