Matthew 13:4, 19; (KJV); And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside, and the fowls came and devoured them up: When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside.
Understanding is the retentive capacity of the human spirit. The spirit of a man does not memorise things, like some are prone to think. The mind memorises, the spirit understands.
It is erroneous to assume that what you have memorised is what you have understood. There are many people who memorise scriptures and truths that they have not understood.
God does not expect you to merely commit truth to memory. Anything that is merely committed to memory can fall victim to the fowls of the air. The enemy can snatch it away. This is why some people forget certain things immediately after a sermon and cannot even quote a simple line of what was spoken. They did not understand what was being spoken. Because they did not understand, the Bible says that the wicked one catches it away.
In Job 28:7, the Bible says, “There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture’s eye hath not seen.” The path spoken of herein, is the path of understanding.
What should this mean to you, child of God? The life of the spirit is not merely about accumulating more knowledge and revelations. It is not even in the abundance of the scriptures that you have read. It is not in the fact that you have read the Bible cover to cover forty times over.
Ask yourself the candid question, have I understood what I have heard or read? If you have not, read or listen to that teaching over and over again until understanding settles in your spirit because understanding is the first element for any germination of the Word.

KUHUSU KUELEWA

Mathayo 13:4, 19; (KJV); Hata alipokuwa akipanda, mbegu nyingine zilianguka karibu na njia, ndege wakaja wakazila. Kila mtu alisikiapo neno la ufalme asielewe nalo, huja yule mwovu, akalinyakua lilipopandwa moyoni mwake. Huyo ndiye aliyepandwa karibu na njia.
Kuelewa ni uwezo wa roho ya mwanadamu wa kuhifadhi mambo. Roho ya mtu haikariri na kuweka vitu kwenye kumbukumbu, kama wengine wanavyofikiria. Akili hukariri, roho huelewa.
Ni makosa kudhani kuwa kile ulichokariri ndicho umeelewa. Kuna watu wengi ambao wanakariri maandiko na kweli ambazo hawajaelewa.
Mungu hatarajii tu uweke ukweli kwa kumbukumbu. Chochote ambacho huwekwa tu kwenye kumbukumbu kinaweza kuhasiriwa na ndege wa angani. Adui anaweza kukipokonya. Hii ndiyo sababu watu wengine husahau mambo fulani mara tu baada ya mahubiri na hawawezi hata kunukuu mstari rahisi wa kile kilichonenwa. Hawakuelewa kile kilichokuwa kinasemwa. Kwa sababu hawakuelewa, Biblia inasema kwamba yule mwovu hukinyakua.
Katika Ayubu 28:7, Biblia inasema, “Njia ile hapana ndege mkali aijuaye; Wala jicho la tai halijaiona.” Njia inayozungumziwa hapa, ni njia ya uelewa.
Je! Hii inapaswa kumaanisha nini kwako, mwana wa Mungu? Maisha ya roho sio haihusu tu kukusanya maarifa zaidi na ufunuo. Si katika wingi wa maandiko ambayo umesoma. Wala sio katika ukweli kwamba umesoma Biblia ukurasa moja hadi lingine mara arobaini zaidi.
Jiulize swali dhahiri, je! Nimeelewa kile nilichosikia au kusoma? Ikiwa haujaelewa, soma au usikilize mafundisho hayo tena na tena mpaka uelewa utakapokaa ndani ya roho yako kwa sababu uelewa ni jambo la kiini katika kukua kwa Neno.
