Matthew 8:28-29 (KJV); And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
There is a stark difference between how the Church today addresses demons and how Christ addressed and treated demons. This difference arises from how deliverance is being taught in our churches in our present day.
Today, some preachers believe that you cannot truly deliver a man without pointing to the might of the devil and how powerful he is. Even though some are not directly confessing his might, their attitude towards demons implies that they think that the devil is more powerful than them.
But look at Jesus and the life He lived. There is nowhere in scripture where he implied that the devil has too much power. In fact, like our theme scripture reveals, demons would scream and cry out before He could address them. His presence in a place was enough to disrupt activity in the spiritual realm and cause demons to flee. He did not need hours of prayer to charge Himself up for a deliverance session.
This does not in any way mean that I am against deliverance as part of Christian ministry and our responsibility as ministers of the gospel. I have cast demons out of people many times. However, we must carry the right consciousness when it comes to spiritual warfare. In Matthew 28:18-19, Jesus told his disciples, “All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
The basis of our teaching as believers is not how powerful the devil is but the fact that ALL POWER IN HEAVEN AND EARTH was given to Christ and that same Christ lives in us. Hallelujah!

Naye tunuulira Yesu n’obulamu bwe yatambuliramu. Tewali mu byawandiikibwa we yategeeza nti setaani alina amaanyi mangi. Mu mazima, nga ekyawandiikibwa kyaffe ekigguddewo bwe kitubikkulira, dayimooni zaaleekaananga ne zikaabira waggulu nga tannaba na kuzigoba. Ku baamureebire, baayomba munonga nibagira bati: Noofa ki naitwe, Iwe Omwana wa Ruhanga? Oizire kutuburabuza, obunaku bwaitu butakahikire?
Hariho entaniso y’amaani ahagati y’oku ekanisa erizooba erikubinga za daimoni n’oku Kristo yabaire azibinga. Entaniso egi neriga omu nyegyesa y’okurekurwa omu makanisa gaitu omu biro ebi.
Erizooba, ababurizi abamwe nibaikiriza ngu torikubaasa kujuna omuntu otayorekyereire obushoboorozi bwa sitaane n’oku aine amaani. N’obu abamwe batarikugamba aha maani gye, oku barikutwariza za daimoni nikyoreka ngu nibateekateeka ngu sitaane aine amaani okubakira.
Kwonka reeba Yesu n’amagara guyabaire aine. Tihariho omu byahandiikirwe ahu yayorekire ngu sitaane aine amaani maingi. Nangwa, nk’oku omutwe gw’ebyahandikirwe byaitu gurikugira, za daimoni zikaba ziborooga atakazibingire. Bakaba bali b’akabi, hataroho n’omu ayasoboraga kuraba omuhanda ogu. Baatokera haiguru nibagamba bati: “Nootwenza ki, iwe Mwana wa Ruhanga? Oizire hanu kutucanza akasumi katakahikire?”
Haroho enyahukana y’amaani hagati y’omulingo ekanisa yahati etwaaza emizimu hamu n’omulingo Kristo yagambiire hamu n’okurabya emizimu. Enyahukana enu ekurugiira ha mulingo okusumu’rwa kwegesibwe omu makanisa gaitu omubiro bunu.

KUHUSU UKOMBOZI

Mathayo 8:28-29 (KJV); Naye alipofika ng’ambo, katika nchi ya Wagerasi, watu wawili wenye pepo walikutana naye, wanatoka makaburini, wakali mno, hata mtu asiweze kuipitia njia ile. Na tazama, wakapiga kelele, wakisema, Tuna nini nawe, Mwana wa Mungu? Je! Umekuja kututesa kabla ya muhula wetu?
Kuna tofauti kuu kati ya jinsi Kanisa siku hizi linavyozungumza na mapepo na jinsi Kristo alivyozungumza na kuwatendea mapepo. Tofauti hii inatokana na jinsi ukombozi unavyofundishwa katika makanisa yetu katika siku zetu hizi.
Hivi leo, wahubiri wengine wanaamini kwamba huwezi kumkomboa mtu kikweli bila kuelekeza kwa nguvu za shetani na jinsi alivyo na uweza. Ingawa wengine hawakiri moja kwa moja uweza wake, mtazamo wao wa mapepo unadhihirisha fikra zao kwamba shetani ana nguvu zaidi yao.
Lakini mtazame Yesu na maisha aliyoishi. Hakuna mahali popote katika maandiko ambapo alidokeza kwamba shetani alikuwa na nguvu nyingi sana. Kwa kweli, kama vile maandiko yetu ya mada yanavyofunua, mapepo yangepiga mayowe na kulia kabla yake kuwahutubia. Uwepo wake mahali ulitosha kuvuruga shughuli katika ulimwengu wa kiroho na kusababisha mapepo kukimbia. Hakuhitaji saa za maombi ili kujitoza kwa ajili ya kikao cha ukombozi.
Hii haimaanishi kwa vyovyote kwamba ninapinga ukombozi kuwa sehemu ya huduma ya Kikristo na wajibu wetu kama wahudumu wa injili. Nimewatoa pepo mara nyingi. Hata hivyo, ni lazima tuwe na ufahamu sahihi wa suala la vita vya kiroho. Katika Mathayo 28:18-19, Yesu aliwaambia wanafunzi wake, “Yesu akaja kwao, akasema nao, akawaambia, Nimepewa mamlaka yote mbinguni na duniani. Basi, enendeni, mkawafanye mataifa yote kuwa wanafunzi, mkiwabatiza kwa jina la Baba, na Mwana, na Roho Mtakatifu;”
Msingi wa mafundisho yetu kama waumini sio jinsi shetani alivyo na nguvu bali ni ukweli kwamba MAMLAKA YOTE MBINGUNI NA DUNIANI alipewa Kristo na Kristo huyo huyo anaishi ndani yetu. Haleluya!
