When choosing a life partner, it is tempting to rely entirely on a certain checklist. If a suitor is born again, marrying him is doctrinally “lawful.” You are right in considering him, as he shares your faith. Yet, spiritual maturity demands we look beyond what is allowable to ask what is expedient. A fellow believer may be a good man, but that does not automatically make him the one.
Settling for a relationship simply because nothing is technically wrong with it often leads you into God’s permissive will. If you insist on a match that lacks divine alignment, the Lord’s permissive will may avail grace for you to take that journey. His grace will sustain you through the friction, but carrying avoidable burdens is never His ultimate desire for your life.
God’s perfect will, however, is deeply purposeful. It unites you with a spouse whose God-given design is uniquely suited to complement your destiny. Do not let impatience cause you to substitute what is merely lawful for what is truly expedient. Hold out for the partner who the Father has purposed for you, ensuring your marriage rests safely in the center of God’s perfect design.

PRAYER: Loving Father, thank You for Your word. I receive the wisdom to discern the difference between what is merely permissible and what is truly expedient for my life and calling. You guard my heart from settling for a good option when You have a God-ordained partner prepared for me. I choose to trust Your timing, surrender my impatience, and walk wholly within Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
