Apostle Grace Lubega
Deuteronomy 23:21 (KJV): “When thou shalt vow a vow unto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.”

Vows are very important to God. When a vow is made, heaven records it and awaits its fulfillment. Yet, many people are quick to make promises before God and men, but become slack or careless when it is time to honor them.
Consider, for example, when someone borrows money from another person. In the moment of need, promises are made with great fervency. However, when the time comes to repay, delays set in and excuses arise—or the matter is forgotten altogether—simply because the borrower assumes that the lender’s need is not as urgent as their own once was.
Yet there are also genuine situations where repayment becomes difficult due to unforeseen hardship. In such cases, integrity is not proven by silence or avoidance, but by honest communication. A responsible borrower should reach out, explain their situation, and give assurance that they are making deliberate efforts to repay. Even if the full amount is not immediately available, transparency and a clear plan demonstrate good faith and respect.
Though this may appear to be a small issue, such attitudes directly affect an individual’s financial and spiritual progress. They reveal a deeper matter of character—whether a person’s word is truly their bond.
The same principle applies in our walk with God. Some believers are slack in paying their tithes or honoring their first fruits. When increase comes, they decide to give to God in installments, reasoning that there are many other urgent needs. However, no need should take precedence over a vow made to God. What belongs to Him must be honored promptly.
Do not delay what you have vowed to God. Let what belongs to Him be the first thing you set aside. Prompt obedience reflects honor, integrity, and trust—and it positions you for sustained increase and divine favor. Hallelujah!
