Apostle Grace Lubega
Hebrews 11:1(KJV); Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
In Philosophy, there is an argument called Pascal’s wager, fronted by the French Philosopher Blaise Pascal.
Pascal’s wager proposes that humans should bet on the existence of God. In summary, what the argument states is that you should live your life as though there is a God because when you die and find that there is a God, you gain but if you find that there is no God, you lose nothing. In his very words, he says, “If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing.”
Fragments of Pascal’s wager are reflected in how some Christians live their lives today. Faith is a gamble and a game of chances. There is no absoluteness to their certainty in God and as such, their life of faith is a conviction of trials and errors. If it works, then good. If it doesn’t, too bad.
GOD IS TOO DELIBERATE TO LEAVE FAITH TO THE WHIMS OF CHANCE.
Because faith is a spiritual law, its spiritual weight gives it absoluteness.
This is why Christ paints this absoluteness by saying that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE for them that believe (Mark 9:23). This statement alone eliminates chances from the arena of faith.
Faith is a choice to believe to the end. The nature of faith, the choice, is explained in the message version of Hebrews 10:39. The Bible says, “But we’re not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We’ll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way.”
The choice to believe does not weigh the possibility of success against failure.
When you made the choice to believe, it was not on the off chance that there might not be a God and you chose the safer option of assuming that there is one; it does not assume that you might not be healed but you can try to pray for healing anyway.
Embrace faith in the understanding that it doesn’t operate by chances. What God promised, He performs. What He says, He does.
His name be praised!
