Jeremiah 10:23 (KJV); O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
There are men in this present world who assume that they can do whatever they want to do with whomever they want to do it. They do not understand that men’s actions are driven by the influence of a spirit, either one of light or of darkness.
Because they lack this understanding, many attempt to exercise liberties outside the boundaries of truth. It is the reason for the proliferation of movements in our day, advocating for all manner of freedoms. Today, we have people clamouring to be allowed to marry animals because of ‘free will’. Pro-choice and euthanasia movements have their reasoning cemented in ‘free will’. Same-sex marriages are a result of a misguided understanding of the operation of ‘free will.’
Increasingly, we are seeing men and women who are drastically changing the course of humanity as we know it in the name of freedom.
A number of philosophies such as that of Friedrich Nietzsche, the German Philosopher, exist about the various human wills, for example, the will to power, the will to pleasure, the will to meaning and the will to life. But before we speak of the will in ‘free will’ we must first understand freedom. What does it mean to be free, before you exercise your will in that freedom?
In John 8:32, the Bible says, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
God has not designed liberties or ‘wills’ to operate outside the boundaries of truth. It is dangerous to be free without truth because it is not in man to direct his steps as our theme scripture says.
Truth, as revealed in the Word of God, is the divine constraint on liberties. That is why, the Church of Christ, as those to whom God has trusted the oracles of the Kingdom of God, must take a firm stand in preaching truth without compromise because we are the conscience of society. The apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 3:15 calls the Church the foundation and pillar of truth. It is a responsibility we cannot take for granted.

Yeremia 10:23 (KJV); Ee BWANA, najua ya kuwa njia ya mwanadamu haimo katika nafsi yake; kuelekeza hatua zake si katika uwezo wa mwanadamu.
Kuna wanadamu kwenye dunia ya sasa wanaodhani wanaweza kufanya lolote wanalotaka kufanya na kufanya hilo jambo na yeyote wanayetaka kufanya naye. Hawatambui kwamba vitendo vyao vinaongozwa na ushawishi wa roho, inaweza kuwa ya nuru au giza.
Kwa sababu wanakosa uelewa huu, wengi wanajaribu kutumia uhuru wao nje ya mipaka ya ukweli. Ndiyo sababu ya kuenea kwa harakati nyingi kweye siku za hivi karibuni, wakitetea uhuru wa kila namna. Leo tuna watu wanaopiga kelele wakubaliwe na jamii ili wafunge ndoa na wanyama kwa sababu ya “uhuru wa kuchagua.” Harakati za kuchagua na euthanasia wana sababu zao zilizoimarishwa kwenye “uhuru wa kuchagua”. Ndoa za jinsia moja ni mojawapo ya sababu za ufahamu potofu wa oparesheni ya ‘uhuru wa kuchagua. ‘

Mungu hajapanga uhuru au ‘mapenzi’ ya kufanya kazi nje ya mipaka ya ukweli. Ni hatari kuwa huru bila ukweli kwa sababu si kwa mwanadamu kuelekeza hatua zake kama andiko letu kuu linavyosema
Kweli, kama inavyofunuliwa katika Neno la Mungu, ni kizuizi cha kiungu juu ya uhuru. Ndio maana, Kanisa la Yesu Kristo, kama wale ambao Mungu amewaamini na mahubiri ya Ufalme wa Mungu, lazima lichukue msimamo thabiti katika kuhubiri ukweli bila maelewano kwa sababu sisi ni dhamiri ya jamii. Mtume Paulo katika 1 Timotheo 3:15 analiita Kanisa msingi na nguzo ya ukweli. Ni jukumu ambalo hatuwezi kulichukulia kawaida.
