Matthew 19:6 (KJV): “Jesus declared, ‘What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder'”

God does not join a man and a woman in marriage without a divine purpose in mind.
He looks at an assignment that must be fulfilled and by His wisdom knows that this purpose can be fulfilled beautifully and powerfully through two specific individuals.
Understanding this changes how we view marriage. Marriage becomes more than companionship; it becomes a covenantal partnership to fulfill a divine plan. And when purpose is understood, divorce becomes harder because you no longer see marriage as a human arrangement but as a God-orchestrated union tied to destiny.
The challenges that arise do not diminish the purpose; they become opportunities for growth, unity, and the strengthening of the bond God created.
Before you marry, this is one of the fundamental questions you must ask God. What is the purpose that my spouse and I have to fulfill in the kingdom of God? If you are already married, it is important to have this deep reflection too. Ask God why He joined the two of you. Let Him reveal what unique mandate can only be filled by the fact that the two of you are man and wife. Hallelujah!
