For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”

Intercession is far more than simply praying for the people or issues around you. It is an active form of service to God.
We see this clearly in the book of Job. When God instructed Job’s friends to have him pray on their behalf, God deliberately referred to him as “my servant Job” (Job 42:8). Job’s intercession was recognized by Heaven not just as a favor to his friends, but as an act of service to the Almighty.
Similarly, Hebrews 9:6 speaks of how the priests regularly entered the first tabernacle, “accomplishing the service of God.” What did this priestly service involve? A core part of their ministry was intercession; standing in the gap for the sins and needs of the people, as demonstrated throughout the Old Testament.
Many believers limit their concept of service to physical or visible labor; what they accomplish with their hands, feet, and talents. Others mistakenly believe that intercession is reserved for a specialized group in the body of Christ called “intercessors.”
In reality, every time you pray for your nation, intercede for the global Church, or stand in the gap for a struggling brother or sister, you are fulfilling a sacred priestly office. Intercession is holy labor, and it is one of the highest forms of service you can render to God.
