The Phaneroo Devotion: The Core Dispositions of an Intercessor 1

James 4:10 (NKJV): “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
At the core of every true intercessor lie three defining dispositions that shape how they approach the throne of God on behalf of others.
The first and most foundational of these dispositions is true humility. It is easy to mistake humility for a quiet temperament, a reserved personality, or a soft-spoken demeanor, but biblical humility goes far deeper than outward behavior. You simply cannot be a true intercessor without it.
Intercession requires us to lay down our self-righteousness, our personal agendas, and our desire for recognition, choosing instead to carry the burdens of others in secret. Humility will cause you to pray earnestly for your enemies rather than against them, even those who falsely accuse or persecute you.
This humility is not something we can manufacture through willpower or self-discipline. It is ultimately a work that only God can accomplish in a person. As God performs this deep, surgical work in us, our prayers increasingly shift from self-centered requests toward pure, Spirit-led alignment with His will.
