Ezekiel 22:30 (KJV); And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
Our theme scripture points us to a pattern in the fulfilment of divine purpose. Before a man can stand in the gap, that man ought to make up the hedge. Ultimately, if you cannot make hedges, you cannot stand in the gap.
When the Lord speaks of hedges, He is not referring to physical hedges but the hedge of knowledge. This is because when it comes to the realm of the spirit, one of the greatest fortresses of divine preservation is knowledge.
In Proverbs 11:9, the Bible says that THROUGH KNOWLEDGE, the righteous shall be delivered. In Hosea 4:6, the Lord says, “My people perish for lack of knowledge.”
There is a Christian who wants God to use them to redeem their nation, there is another who wants God to use them to revive a continent and there is another who wants God to use them to change their community.
The question is, have you made up the hedge? Have you applied yourself to His Word, to understanding His voice and to the power of His presence? If not, then you have not understood the immensity of the burden you seek to carry or the price that must be paid to bear it.
Men who stand in the gap are those that have made up their minds to know God, to explore the bottomless depths of His person and to let Him lead them through the paths of unsearchable truths.

Mukama bw’ayogera ku nkomera, Tategeeza ku lukomera olukwatikako mu buliwo naye olukomera lw’okumanya. Kino kiri kityo kubanga bwe kituuka ku nsi y’omwoyo, ekimu ku bigo by’okukuumibwa kw’omwoyo ebisinga amaanyi kwe kumanya.

Ezekieli 22:30 (KJV); Nilitafuta miongoni mwao mtu mmoja atengeneze ukuta na kusimama juu ya mahali palipobomoka mbele yangu, ili ailinde nchi na kunizuia nisiiharibu, lakini sikumpata hata mmoja.
Andiko letu kuu linatuelekeza kwa mfano katika kutimiza kusudi la kimungu. Kabla ya mtu kusimama katika pengo, mtu huyo anapaswa kuunda ua. Mwishowe, ikiwa huwezi kutengeneza ua, huwezi kusimama kwenye pengo.
Wakati Bwana anazungumza juu ya ua, hasemi kwa wigo wa mwili bali uzio wa maarifa. Hii ni kwa sababu linapokuja suala la ulimwengu wa kiroho, moja wapo ya ngome kubwa za utunzaji wa kimungu ni maarifa.

Swali ni, je! Umetengeneza ua? Je! Umejitahidi kwa Neno lake, kuelewa sauti yake na nguvu ya uwepo wake? Ikiwa sivyo, basi haujaelewa ukubwa wa mzigo unaotafuta kubeba au bei ambayo inapaswa kulipwa kuubeba.
Watu wanaosimama katika pengo ni wale ambao wameamua katika mawazo yao kumjua Mungu, kuchunguza undani wa nafsi yake na kumruhusu awaongoze kupitia njia za ukweli usioweza kutafutwa.
