Apostle Grace Lubega
Lamentations 3:22–23 (NKJV): “Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

It is easy to look at a street child struggling for a meal, a person trapped in addiction, or someone whose life has been shattered by tragedy, and mistakenly assume that you are somehow better, wiser, or more righteous. Human nature leans toward subtle self-righteousness, attributing personal stability and prosperity to smart choices, moral uprightness, or individual effort. But the divine truth of Scripture strips away all boasting: it is only by the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.
Never forget that it could easily have been you. There is no mistake another person made that you could not have made, and no temptation another succumbed to that could not have swept you away, except for the preserving grace of God.
When you look at children living on the streets, remember: that could have been your childhood, or those could have been your children. When you see lives broken by drug abuse, recognize that your mind and body remain intact not because you were immune to destruction, but because mercy drew a line around your life. Grace is not a badge of superiority; it is a shield of unearned protection.
Cultivating this profound realization changes your posture before God and man. It kills spiritual pride and fuels daily, heartfelt gratitude. When you truly grasp that mercy is the only reason you are standing, you stop judging those who are broken and start extending the same compassion that rescued you. Live every single day with an overflowing heart, knowing that everything you are, have, and enjoy is a direct fruit of God’s unmerited favor!

PRAYER: Loving Father, I bow my heart in deepest gratitude for Your preserving mercy. Forgive me for any subtle pride that takes credit for where I am today. I recognize that it is only by Your grace and compassion that I am not consumed. May my life be a living testimony of Your unmerited favor, extending Your love to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
