Apostle Grace Lubega
Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV): “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.”
—
Pride is one of the primary destroyers of intimacy in marriage. It stands in the way of honest communication and amplifies what should be minor issues.
You should never be too proud to do your part in marriage, in spite of your partner’s weaknesses. Yes, they might have a problem in a certain area of their character, but the question should always be: have you done your part?
Pride keeps records of wrongs, rehearses offences, and waits for the other person to make the first move. But love is not built that way. A strong marriage is sustained by two people who are willing to die to self, yield to the Spirit, and esteem one another above personal pride.
Humility does not mean that you ignore issues. Rather, humility gives you the right spirit with which to address those issues. It allows you to speak the truth in love, listen without defensiveness, apologise where necessary, and forgive quickly.
Pride hardens hearts, but humility opens doors for healing. Pride separates couples, but humility restores. When you choose humility, you make room for God to work in your marriage. Hallelujah!

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for the gift of marriage. I ask that You search my heart and remove every seed of pride, stubbornness, selfishness, and offence. Teach me to walk in humility, patience, forgiveness, and love. Give me the grace to do my part, even when it is difficult, and to value peace and unity in my home. By Your Spirit, I choose to be quick to forgive, willing to listen, and ready to serve. My marriage is strengthened by wisdom, humility, and the love of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
