Apostle Grace Lubega
Matthew 8:24–26 (KJV): “And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.”

The story in our theme Scripture is a remarkable demonstration of the faith of Christ.
The Bible tells us that the sea grew rough and the waves beat violently against the boat, yet Jesus seemed untouched by it all. He was fast asleep.
Before He entered the boat, the Lord knew that a storm would arise. He knew the winds would grow fierce and that the disciples would be shaken with fear, to the point of believing they were about to perish. Yet, in full knowledge of what was to come, He chose to sleep. This was not a light or restless sleep. He was in such perfect rest that the tossing of the boat and the roaring of the waves did not disturb Him. His disciples had to wake Him, because the storm had not touched His peace.
What a profound picture of faith.
This is the kind of faith God desires for us to walk in: a faith that leads into rest. Hebrews 4:3 says, “For we which have believed do enter into rest…”
Through this account, the Lord invites us into a Christ-like consciousness: a life so anchored in God that the knowledge of coming trouble cannot unsettle the heart. It is the posture of one whose peace is so deep that others may wonder whether he is even aware of the turmoil around him.
This is the faith that moves mountains: a faith rooted in rest, serene in the midst of contrary winds, because it is wholly convinced of the Father’s love. Hallelujah!

GOLDEN NUGGET: This is the faith that moves mountains: a faith rooted in rest, serene in the midst of contrary winds, because it is wholly convinced of the Father’s love.
PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this Word. Thank You for the blessed confidence that comes from knowing You. Your love has been shed abroad in my heart, and that love casts out all fear. Nothing can intimidate me, because I am fully persuaded of Your love. It is by this assurance that I sleep through storms, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
