Apostle Grace Lubega
Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV): “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
—
The mercy of God is not passive; it is active. It is not a distant emotion where He feels pity yet remains unmoved. When God shows mercy, He acts.
Many people misunderstand mercy as God merely watching human suffering with compassion but choosing not to intervene. This belief has caused some to accept pain, sickness, and bondage as things God silently allows in mercy. This is not true.
Every time God had mercy on a person in the Bible, He did something about their condition.
When God had mercy on the children of Israel in Egypt, He did not just feel compassion for their cries, He sent Moses, broke the power of Pharaoh, and delivered them from bondage (Exodus 3:7–8).
When Jesus had mercy on blind Bartimaeus, He did not walk past him with sympathy. He stopped, called him, and restored his sight (Mark 10:46–52).
When God had mercy on humanity, He did not simply acknowledge our fallen state. He sent His Son. Mercy put on flesh, walked among us, died on the cross, and rose again for our salvation.
God’s mercy always moves Him to action.
Mercy does not coexist with indifference. If God were to watch suffering and do nothing, that would not be mercy, it would be neglect. But our God is neither cruel nor distant. His mercy reaches, touches, heals, restores, and redeems. Hallelujah!

GOLDEN NUGGET: God’s mercy always moves Him to action.
PRAYER: Loving Father, thank You for Your mercy. Your compassion can never fail. You intervene in the situations of my life, to align, strengthen and restore. This is why I trust You. By this truth, I have learnt to expect Your hand at work in any situation that challenges me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
