Matthew 2:1-3 (NKJV): ”Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.’ When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.”

When the wise men came asking about the birth of Jesus, the Bible says that not only King Herod but all of Jerusalem was troubled. Everyone was disturbed, and the news shook the entire city. Yet here is the surprising part: none of the men and women of Israel went looking for Jesus. Not the priests, not the Pharisees, and not even those who had waited for the Messiah for years.
They were in the right place, Jerusalem. They knew the prophecies. But that knowledge was not enough to stir them to seek and inquire after they heard what the wise men said. Meanwhile, men from distant lands, who were not even Jews, packed their bags, traveled for weeks or months, and followed a star simply to worship Jesus.
This still happens today. Sometimes, the people you expect to understand what God is doing for example, church friends or even some religious leaders, may not see it. They may see the signs and act as though it is not a big deal. Their indifference does not mean God isn’t moving.
God is looking for seekers, people like the wise men who don’t just sense that God is doing something but respond to it with action. Let that be you. Hallelujah!

PRAYER: My loving Father, I thank You for this word. I am a seeker. I refuse to be indifferent or disconnected from what You are doing in my times. Give me the hunger and courage to pursue You with all my heart, even when others do not. Wise men still seek You, and I choose to be counted in that number. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
