In our theme scripture, the Bible tells us to “hold fast our profession.” The word “profession” here comes from the Greek homologia, which means “confession” – agreeing with God and speaking what He says.
The phrase “hold fast” comes from the Greek krateō, which means to have power over, be a master of something, or to rule over a thing. In essence, this is not just about speaking the right way sometimes—it’s about mastering your confession and taming your tongue.
Many Christians already know the importance of confessing right. They say, “I’m healed,” when they feel sick. “I’m strong,” when they feel weak, which is good, but the real challenge is krateō, holding fast to that confession even when everything you see or feel seems to disagree with it. If you’ve confessed healing but the symptoms persist for weeks, do you still say, “I’m healed”? If you’ve confessed God’s provision but your bank account is empty, do you still say, “My God supplies all my needs”?
That’s where krateō comes in—you seize that confession, you hold it tightly, and you don’t let go no matter what happens. It’s about agreeing with God without stopping, without drawing back, and without being moved by circumstances. Confessing the Word is powerful, but holding fast to your confession is what brings results. Hallelujah!

TIENS FERMEMENT TA CONFESSION

Hébreux 4:14 (LSG): « Ainsi, puisque nous avons un grand souverain sacrificateur qui a traversé les cieux, Jésus, le Fils de Dieu, demeurons fermes dans la foi que nous professons. »

Dans notre verset du jour, la Bible nous dit de « demeurer fermes dans la foi que nous professons ».
Le mot « profession » ici vient du grec homologia, qui signifie « confession » — être d’accord avec Dieu et déclarer ce qu’Il dit.
L’expression « tenir ferme » vient du grec krateō, qui signifie avoir autorité sur, dominer ou maîtriser quelque chose. En d’autres termes, il ne s’agit pas seulement de parler correctement de temps en temps—mais de maîtriser ta confession et de dompter ta langue.
Beaucoup de chrétiens savent déjà l’importance de confesser correctement. Ils disent : « Je suis guéri », lorsqu’ils se sentent malades. « Je suis fort », lorsqu’ils se sentent faibles. C’est bien, mais le vrai défi, c’est krateō—tenir fermement cette confession, même lorsque tout ce que tu vois ou ressens semble contredire ta parole de foi.
Si tu as confessé la guérison mais que les symptômes persistent pendant des semaines, dis-tu encore : « Je suis guéri » ?
Si tu as confessé la provision de Dieu mais que ton compte bancaire est vide, dis-tu encore : « Mon Dieu pourvoira à tous mes besoins » ?
C’est là que krateō entre en jeu—tu saisis ta confession, tu la tiens fermement, et tu ne la lâches pas, quoi qu’il arrive. Il s’agit de rester d’accord avec Dieu sans s’arrêter, sans reculer et sans se laisser influencer par les circonstances.
Confesser la Parole est puissant, mais tenir fermement à ta confession est ce qui apporte les résultats. Alléluia !
