There are many kinds of deaths in the Christian faith. It is not merely the physical death where the man’s heart stops beating and all his vital organs cease to function. Death in the Bible is a much broader concept.
It is important to understand the many ways that God defines death because when you do, you will also understand how he defines life. Many who have not appreciated this truth are deceived like the Church in Sardis, of which the Bible says, “I know your record and what you are doing; you are supposed to be alive but [in reality] you are dead” (Revelation 3:1 AMP).
Some people under the grace dispensation have understood dying unto sin, of which the Bible says in Romans 6:11 that you should reckon yourselves dead indeed unto sin. With this revelation, they are living lives of holiness even as they are kept by God in His righteousness.
However, a man may be dead to sin when there are other parts of him that are not dead. I know men who have tamed the flesh but they are not yielded to God in many other areas of their lives, and as such, they are not really alive.
In our theme scripture, Paul says he died daily. Death became to him a manner of life. He did not merely die to sin, he died in all the ways that a man should die so that he may live. As such, more than ever before, we need to yield ourselves to the process that kills all manner of carnality in us so that we can truly be alive unto God.

Hariho ebika byingi by’okufa omu nyikiriza y’obukristaayo. Tikufa okurikureebwa ahu omutima gw’omuntu gurikurekyeraaho kuteera n’ebicweeka by’omugasho bikarekyeraaho kukora. Okufa omu Baiburi n’ekintu kihango munoonga.

KUELEWA MAUTI – ZAIDI YA KUFA KWA DHAMBI

1 Wakorintho 15:31 (KJV); Naam, ndugu, kwa huku kujisifu kwangu niliko nako juu yenu katika Kristo Yesu Bwana wetu, ninakufa kila siku.
Kuna aina nyingi za vifo katika imani ya Kikristo. Si kifo cha kimwili tu ambapo moyo wa mtu huacha kupiga na viungo vyake vyote muhimu hukoma kufanya kazi. Kifo katika Biblia ni dhana pana zaidi.
Ni muhimu kuelewa njia nyingi ambazo Mungu hufafanua kifo kwa sababu unapofanya hivyo, utaelewa pia jinsi anavyofafanua maisha. Wengi ambao hawajathamini kweli hii wamedanganywa kama Kanisa la Sardi, ambalo Biblia husema hivi juu yake, “Nayajua matendo yako; la kuwa una jina la kuwa hai, lakini [kwa uhalisi] umekufa” (Ufunuo 3:1 AMP).
Baadhi ya watu chini ya kipindi cha neema wameelewa kufa kwa ajili ya dhambi, jambo ambalo Biblia inasema katika Warumi 6:11, jihesabuni kuwa wafu kwa dhambi. Kwa ufunuo huu, wanaishi maisha ya utakatifu kwa maana wamehifadhiwa na Mungu katika haki yake.
Hata hivyo, mtu anaweza kuwa amekufa kwa dhambi wakati kuna sehemu nyingine zake ambazo hazijafa. Najua watu ambao wameufunga mwili lakini hawajajitolea kwa Mungu katika maeneo mengine mengi ya maisha yao, na kwa hivyo, hawako hai kweli.
Katika andiko letu kuu, Paulo anasema alikufa kila siku. Kifo kikawa kwake mfumo wa maisha. Hakufa kwa ajili ya dhambi tu, bali alikufa katika njia zote ambazo mwanadamu anapaswa kufa ili apate kuishi.
