1 Kings 19:18 (KJV): Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

The context of our theme scripture is the story of the great Prophet Elijah’s flight from Jezebel, Queen to King Ahab because she had, in no simple words, promised to kill him.
It is with this profound fear that he told God that he was the only one left of all the prophets in Israel. God informed Elijah that there were in fact seven thousand prophets who had not bowed to Baal.
The ultimate question one ought to ask is, “Where were those seven thousand prophets when pagan worship was taking preeminence in Israel? Where were those prophets when Elijah condemned Israel’s idolatry? Where were they when Elijah proved to Israel that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the one and true God?”
The obvious answer is that they were hidden. This is in the sense that they were not fiery enough to attract Jezebel’s wrath.
While this fact may be celebrated, it is also saddening. This is because it is possible to be safe from persecution and yet indifferent to divine purpose. You would rather be targeted while you are in the perfect will of God than be safe while lounging in the permissible will.
Refuse to be hidden! Even if the glory upon your life attracts fire, rest in the fact that when you go through the fire, God shall be with you!
Step out into God’s plan and purposes without fear of intimidation. Don’t allow the possibility of persecution to let you cower in comfort zones. May enemies fight you because you are shining. May the haters attack you because you leaped out of the shallow pools of mediocrity into the bottomless depths of greatness. Hallelujah!

REFUSEZ D’ÊTRE CACHÉ

1 Rois 19:18 (LSG); Mais je laisserai en Israël sept mille hommes, tous ceux qui n’ont point fléchi les genoux devant Baal, et dont la bouche ne l’a point baisé.

Le contexte de notre écriture thématique est l’histoire de la fuite du grand prophète Élie de Jézabel, reine, vers le roi Achab parce qu’elle avait, en termes simples, promis de le tuer.
C’est avec cette profonde crainte qu’il dit à Dieu qu’il était le seul qui restait de tous les prophètes en Israël. Dieu informa Élie qu’il y avait en fait sept mille prophètes qui ne s’étaient pas inclinés devant Baal.
La question ultime que l’on devrait se poser est : « Où étaient ces sept mille prophètes lorsque le culte païen prenait la prééminence en Israël ? Où étaient ces prophètes quand Élie condamna l’idolâtrie d’Israël ? Où étaient-ils quand Élie prouva à Israël que le Dieu d’Abraham, Isaac et Jacob est le seul et vrai Dieu ? »
La réponse évidente est qu’ils étaient cachés. C’est dans le sens qu’ils n’étaient pas assez fougueux pour attirer la colère de Jézabel.
Même si ce fait peut être célébré, il est également attristant. En effet, il est possible d’être à l’abri de la persécution tout en étant indifférent au dessein divin. Vous préférez être ciblé alors que vous êtes dans la volonté parfaite de Dieu plutôt que d’être en sécurité tout en vous prélassant dans la volonté permise.
Refusez d’être caché ! Même si la gloire de votre vie attire le feu, reposez-vous sur le fait que lorsque vous traverserez le feu, Dieu sera avec vous !
