Apostle Grace Lubega
Galatians 5:1 (AMPC): “In [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off].”
—
Freedom is your inheritance in Christ. It is one of the deep privileges that accompany salvation.
Yet Paul gives a serious instruction: stand fast in this freedom. This means that although Christ has made the believer free, the believer must be careful not to submit again to a yoke of bondage.
No child of God willingly desires slavery. No believer who understands the freedom purchased by the blood of Jesus consciously chooses bondage. The danger is in the fact that many submit to it ignorantly, through teachings they receive as truth.
This is why what you hear matters for bondage sometimes comes cloaked in the language of ‘truth’. A man may be free in Christ and yet become entangled again because he sat under a doctrine that magnified fear above faith or condemnation above righteousness.
I have seen doctrine enslave believers in their finances, causing them to labour endlessly with little fruit. I have seen teachings trap them in struggling careers and ministry. This is because they are no longer drinking from the flow of grace; they are drawing from the dry wells of human effort.
To stand fast in freedom is to refuse every doctrine that attempts to diminish the finished work of Christ. It is to reject every voice that takes you back to striving, insecurity, guilt, and self-effort. It is to remain persuaded that Christ has completely liberated you, and that nothing contrary to His grace has authority over your life. Hallelujah!

GOLDEN NUGGET: To stand fast in freedom is to refuse every doctrine that attempts to diminish the finished work of Christ. It is to reject every voice that takes you back to striving, insecurity, guilt, and self-effort. It is to remain persuaded that Christ has completely liberated you, and that nothing contrary to His grace has authority over your life.
PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for the freedom I have received in Christ Jesus. Thank You because the Son has made me free, and I am free indeed. You open my ears to discern truth. My heart rejects every teaching that leads me back to bondage. I am established in the revelation of Your grace and the finished work of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
