Persecution – A Badge Of Honour

Persecution – A Badge Of Honour

Apostle Grace Lubega

Mark 10:29-30 (KJV); There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with PERSECUTIONS; and in the world to come eternal life.”

In his book, God’s Generals, Roberts Liardon narrates the story of the healing apostle, Alexander Dowie.

He accounts that Alexander was arrested one hundred times in a period of one year because of the gospel. It is said that Alexander wore persecution like a badge of honour.
What an attitude!

Foxe’s Book of Martyrs details some gruelling accounts of Christians guillotined, immersed in boiling oil, burnt at stakes, mauled by bulls and hungry lions, stoned to death—all because of the gospel.

When you got Born Again, you got into a covenant that made you an enemy to the world (John 15:18).
The promise from our Lord and master was clear; you, “…shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with PERSECUTIONS; and in the world to come eternal life.”

You will suffer many things because of this gospel. But the LORD has promised that it all works for your good (Romans 8:28).

Paul, in the bliss of this understanding called them light afflictions (2 Corinthians 4:17).

We have a cloud of witnesses cheering us on (Hebrews 12:1). These are people that have gone before you.

There is no temptation that has befallen you that is not common to man (1 Corinthians 10:13). It means that someone victoriously went through what you are going through. If someone did, you also can, in the name of Jesus! Amen!

GOLDEN NUGGET:

We have a cloud of witnesses. These are people that have gone before you. There is no temptation that has befallen you that is not common to man. It means that someone victoriously went through what you are going through. If someone did, you also can.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for the gospel. It has withstood the stormy sands of time; it is the great force that has shaped the course of history. Governments could not stop it; empires could not quench its fires. I thank you for the great privilege to be a part of it. It doesn’t matter what I suffer for the sake of this gospel, I count it joy. Today, I stand in the understanding that nothing can ever shake my convictions in this truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
