Exodus 24:12-13(KJV); And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God
Our theme scripture reveals that Moses is invited by God into His presence in order to receive his ministry.
It opens our eyes to the fact that our ministries are received and defined unto us in the presence of God.
In Romans 12:7, Paul instructs the church that when it comes to ministry, we have to wait on our ministries.
You have a part in the gospel and there is a great mandate upon your life. However, that mandate only becomes clear in the place of communion with God.
How will you ever understand your true purpose when you have not learnt how to wait on God for it? How will you ever know what God has called you to do when you cannot tarry in His presence?
Never allow zeal alone to propel you onto the mission field without understanding what God requires of you as a minister.
The absence of this understanding is why there are many people in ministry doing things that God has not called them to do and yet they are unwilling to align themselves to His purposes. There are men preaching to those God has not sent them to; there are ushers too timid to teach and so chose the path of least resistance; there are pastors who were never called to be pastors and prophets ‘prophelying’ because they love the sound of being called prophets.
The true pattern of ministry is that God calls you to Himself, entrusts you with your ministry and then sends you. You must wait on Him enough to receive your ministry.
